Revit - Revit Walls

Turning again to return, according to some queries I had, I'll upload some features, types and properties of the walls.

We will see in various stages all the possibilities we have for the walls.

Revit Inside we have 3 different categories of walls

- Basic Interior and Exterior Walls

- Walls

- Curtain Walls

Basic Walls

Basic

walls are created by different layers representing different materials and different functions.

The walls are families of systems, the project can not be recorded as individual families (. RFA). To create a new family of system on a project must:

- Duplicate an existing type and then modify its properties

- Copy and Paste a wall from one project to another project

- Use Standard Transfer Tool Project Manage the flap, for that you must have both files open (the one containing the desired wall, and the file that you want to take).

Edit a wall structure

To access the structure of a wall should be selected in the properties, EDTI TYPE button, and then within the parameters of type in the Construction group, the EDIT button ... Structure.

The following dialog box, you can add or remove layers of a wall, set the material each boss and function and indicate the thickness of each.

If we click the Preview button \u0026lt;\u0026lt;, we can see the wall that we are working.

The first thing to consider in building the wall structure is that the layers are superior to the outside, and the lower inland.

There are two layers that can not be renamed and has no thickness, the layers are called CORE BOUNDARY / contour of the nucleus.

These layers divide the core structure of the remaining layers. This allows us the time to place the wall or delimit, working with the core of the wall.

For example, in this case, we used the option to place the wall according to the contour of the outer core, so it went ahead with the completion of the columns .

Function

There are 6 options to choose and each has a priority that determines how the layer is attached to other walls, floors and ceilings. Options are

- Structure [1]: Define the most important component of the wall, and the other components are based on this, has the highest priority to unite with other layers of lower priority.

- Substrate [2]: It is a secondary plate for use in finishes such as gypsum board

- Thermal / Air Layer [3]: Used as an air or heat.

- Finish 1 [4]: \u200b\u200bAn exterior finish coat, which can illustrate the termination of a material.

- Finish 2 [5]: It is an inner coat, similar the previous one, but with a different hierarchy.

- Membrane Layer: This layer illustrates a membrane, has not been assigned a priority

Priority 1 is the highest and 5 the lowest, a have priority 1 layer, cut the rest of the layers with lower priority.

Material

In this same dialog box can be attached to the layers of materials wall. For that you must select the appropriate cell and then click on the button with three points.

can specify on the first tab color, graphics, cutting and surface color.

The second tab select the look that will have the material if you make a render.

The third tab allows to put the description and product information (Check the supplier's cost, URL, etc)

And in the last flip, the physical specifications of the material. ;

Thickness

This value represents the thickness of the layer of material defined.

Wraps

This option is used to define what materials we want to be taken into account in the time warps layers at the edge of a wall or in contact with windows and doors.

After checking this option in the wall structure, we define the operation properties. We have two alternatives for selecting an envelope when you finish a wall and the other when you have a window or door.
