E l Content Manager / Content Explorer provides a new way to search and view content.
We find in the Plug-ins tab in the Content panel, the icon EXPLORE.
As in the Design Center / Design Center, you can add blocks, layers and style definitions to the current drawing, but is more potent .
In the second icon at the bottom we can change the display options, such as image size, if we want to sort by name, date, etc..
By default search are two folders: Downloaded Content and Sample. To add folders of our projects, we must select the Add Watch Folder in the bottom left of the window, and select the desired folder.
Alternatively Open Windows Explorer and drag the folder to the content manager. This will not copy the folder, only adds to the search index.
Once built, there is a clock on the icon, which indicates that it is doing the indexing.
The clock will disappear, when they are added to the index all objects, text and properties.
We also have another icon on the bottom, where we can filter your search on different types of objects that are available.
At the top we can indicate a search string, with the possibility of using wildcard characters, more than one string and thus the coincidence search of being placed.
For example you can search for text in an entire folder to search all files, or double-click a file, right mouse button, select Open and search for text.
Double-click the text to find, view the file in the location of this.
If we find a block reference in multiple files, put them in the search text box, the attribute name followed by a colon and then value.
If we add some objects to the current drawing file, we only have to drag content from the browser to the drawing active.
These searches can be performed on the local computer or on networked computers, using the Content Server.
The Content server is automatically added to the local computer, as you add folders, indexes are created on the computer.
To enable search in network folders, you can insert the Content server on a network computer and then specify folders to watch. For example the folders that contain all the blocks, and company standards. Users connect to the network and look for content on the network.
To install this service on your network, you must open the installation of AutoCAD and select Install Tools and Utilities / Install Tools & Utilities.
Once selected, the next window select the option just let Autodesk Content Service.
Once installed a new icon appears on the desktop application. Double-click to open the management window and the Add Folder button to select the folder where the items you want to use. Will be available only those folders that are shared on the network computer.
The statistics tab, you can check the status of the indexing process and obtain information about the duration, it may take a long time.
now goes to the user of AutoCAD?
on your computer should go to Content Manager and select Configuration Settings / Configure Settings from the bottom. It shows the origins of content that is currently connected.
Click the Add button Network Content / Add content to add network shared folders. Enter the server name where you installed the Content Server and close the dialog box.
